What is The Michigan Literary Network and Motown Writers Network?
Motown Writers Network and The Michigan Literary Network is a top viewed web site in Michigan that promotes literary works by Michigan authors and authors whose works positively promote Michigan, especially Metro Detroit. In addition to posting information regarding new releases by mainstream as well as self-published writers of this nature, we also provide readers with book previews, book reviews, postings about upcoming literary events, a list of anticipated releases for the current year and beyond, and press releases regarding events, awards, and other related web content.
Motown Writers Network was launched in August 2000 in order to assist writers, network authors and poets, promoting books written by or about Michigans. The Michigan Literary Network was started in 2006 to connect readers with the Michigan literary community and provide more literary events in the Metro Detroit Area. Motown Writers Network and Michigan Literary Network is not a book club, but an online resource that posts literary information of interest to readers and writers.

Getting on Motown Writers Network and The Michigan Literary Network
Books that may be featured on the Motown Writers Network and The Michigan Literary Network web site should:
- (1) Be available for order through Amazon.com; this website is an Associate of Amazon.com, therefore it is important that your book is listed with Amazon, but we will post new release info even if your book is only available on 1st Books, iUniverse, or any other bookseller site.
- (2) Have an available graphic of the book cover (make sure it's a smaller size file as opposed to a huge file that has to be downloaded);
- (3) Include 100 word bio, which doesn’t include the URL (website) of author.
- (4) Be a novel that is written by a person living in Michigan or born in Michigan or be a story that prominently features Michigan.

In order to advertise on MLN and MWN:
1-your Amazon.com link MUST be available;
2-your book cover must be in its final form (it doesn't have to be available on Amazon; you would need to email a copy of the jpeg for downloading);
3-please complete an Ad & Promotion Proposal form to let us know the type of ad you want, etc.
4-you may buy either a HOT SPOT or SIDE BAR ad; also include the web address of your official author site.
5-include a contact name, email address, and phone number in case there are any questions.
6-we reserve the right to accept or reject advertising; please inquire about your proposed ad prior to sending payment. Email us if you have questions
7-once your ad is accepted, you will be notified about its posting.
Book Reviews
Due to the volume of books received, we do not have the manpower to review 100% of the books received (including self-published ones). We have received an increase in the number of authors that want their book reviewed. However, we are scaling back and can now approximately 25% of the books received, therefore please DO NOT automatically send us your book for review because we do not have the manpower to review your book; however, if we do read the book, it may take between eight weeks to six months before a review is posted. If you have not seen a review posted of your book within this time frame, it probably will not be reviewed. We prefer all kinds of contemporary fiction or biographies, but we can review historical, psychological, financial, poetry, or political type books.
You do not have to send us a copy of your book in order to be on this website only 2 copies are needed for reviews. But if you do want to send a press kit, a galley or a copy of the finished book (no manuscripts), the address is:

You do not have to mail the book priority or express; media mail is fine and less expensive.

If you are a reviewer and would like to utilize The Michigan Literary Network or Motown Writers Network to post your reviews, please contact us. At this time, we cannot pay, but we can give you a 100 word tag at the end of the review. After six months of submitting at least one review a month, we will have you permanently on the website and you are allowed to keep the books that you review.

Motown Writers Network and The Michigan Literary Network strive to provide literary events for authors in the Metro Detroit Area. For authors who are interested in garnering more exposure for their book to local audiences, we offer several annual programs.
$150 Bronze Membership – 3 events, a listing on The Michigan Literary Network’s author list, Quarter Ad in The Essence of Motown Literary Journal and participation in The Essence of Motown Writers Conference as a one day vendor.
$275 Silver Membership – (same as Bronze) except you will receive one all access pass to conference, Half page listing in The Essence of Motown Literary Journal, premiere listing for six months on The Michigan Literary Network. 500 postcards will be made up with your book cover and sent to three reader’s conferences all over the US (Rawsistaz and two other conferences depending on your genre).
$400 Gold Membership – (same as Silver) except you will receive two all access passes to conference, Spotlight feature in The Essence of Motown Literary Journal (Half page with book cover, author’s pictures and info with website link). Distribution inside of HubBooks’ catalog that will be given to business book buyers in the Metro Detroit Area after signing a distribution contract with HubBooks and placement on HubBooks.biz, and an excerpt of your book on HubBooks groups for readers interested in local books.
